Walter Williams: Leaders of ISIS and the Taliban call angry mobs destroying statues in the U.S. “inspiring but a bit amateur"

Leaders of ISIS and the Taliban have called the recent U.S. trend of angry mobs destroying statues “inspiring but a bit amateur,” and agreed to send advisers to Antifa and other far-left groups on how to erase historical artifacts. “Destroying all art, culture and history from previous eras is obviously constructive,” said ISIS leader Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi. “But they’ve got to do it in a more dramatic way. We beheaded statues with a sword. The Taliban blew up ancient Buddhas with dynamite. Tying a statue to a truck and dragging it down just doesn’t have the same dramatic effect.”

Tom DiLorenzo on the BLM riots

[W]hat started out as riots supposedly over police brutality against black people turning into “demands” for an exponentially bigger welfare state, abolition of police and prisons, the abolition of capitalism and in essence the adoption of socialism. Toppling statues of Christopher Columbus, Ulysses S. Grant, abolitionist Albert Pike, and even of Lincoln is not a protest against police brutality but part of an effort to destroy the institutions of Western civilization and replace them with communism at long last.  As one of the founders of Black Lives Matter proudly boasted, “We are trained Marxists. (“Trained” by Obama-style “community organizers,” no doubt).

Pat Buchanan on the toppling of statues

Portland’s statue of George Washington, the Father of his Country and the first president of the United States, the greatest man of his age, was toppled and desecrated.

[...]

In Portland also, a statue of Thomas Jefferson that stood at the entrance of a high school named for the author of the Declaration of Independence was torn down. In New York, city council members demanded that the Jefferson statue in city hall be removed.

Anticipating what was coming, the New York Museum of Natural History got the permission of city hall to have the giant statue of Theodore Roosevelt astride a horse, flanked by an African and a Native American, removed from the front of the museum.

What was wrong with the 80-year-old statue?

Said museum president Ellen Futter, the problem is its “hierarchical composition.” Only Roosevelt was mounted. With Washington, Jefferson and Roosevelt all under attack, three of the four presidents on Mount Rushmore are now repudiated by the left.

Our Taliban have moved on, past Columbus and the Confederate generals, to dislodge and dishonor the Founding Fathers and their patriot sons.

Fox 9 News: "The state did not make much of a move to prevent this statue from coming down"

The state did not make much of a move to prevent this statue from coming down.  The state knew of this.  This was not a surprise.  The Public Safety Commissioner, John Herrington, said earlier today that he knew that there was a threat on social media against the Christopher Columbus statue.  He said that the state patrol would be out here to urge the group not to tear the statue down and to follow the normal channels.  There was only one trooper out here making that request to follow the normal channels.  The group didn't listen.  The statue is on the ground.

US protesters pull down Christopher Columbus statues

Charlene Day-Castro on the toppling of the Christopher Columbus statue in St. Paul

For us as Native American people, we think yesterday was an awesome day.  It is huge, a significant event that happened yesterday, although it might’ve been against some laws, it wasn’t against our natural laws.
