They still have this huge feeling that the West only acts to bring good, never for some bad purpose.  And the reverse of that is the adversaries of the West are always savages.  You see, that's the colonial mindset that the West goes into the colonies to civilize people, but when the colonial rises up and fights back, they are being savages.  

This goes back to the way Western reporters wrote about Khartoum, the Battle of Khartoum in 1884.  They wrote about the Boxer Rebellion in this way.  Every time the Chinese resisted the opium wars and so on, the Chinese were treated as savages in the media, like, "how dare you fight, and if you fight, you fight brutally."  When the Indians rose up in 1857 in the great Indian uprising against British rule, every British newspaper said, "these are savages, they conduct attrocities."  After that war ended, Indians who were caught by the British were strapped to cannons and the cannons were fired as a warning to others not to fight.  I mean, it's a brutal, brutal repression of people.  And yet, that doesn't change the impression of the West as aggressive.  The West is always doing things for human rights and the savages are always wrong.

Doug Casey on the 12 principles that created Western civilization

I think there are at least 12 characteristics that are underpinned the West.  They are free thought, free speech, free markets, property rights, limited government, individualism, rationality, personal liberty, the concept of progress, privacy, the rule of law, and entrepreneurialism. 

Humans everywhere understand their value and adhere to them sporadically, of course; without them civilization is impossible.  But only the West made them integral to itself, as principles.  They’re what made us unique.

Since taking office in late 2012, Xi has repeatedly warned against the "infiltration" of Western values such as democracy, press freedom and judicial independence. He has clamped down on foreign NGOs, churches, as well as Western textbooks — all seen as vehicles for undue foreign influence. 

That has fueled a growing strand of narrow-minded nationalism, which casts suspicion on any foreign ties and views feminism, the LGBTQ movement, and even environmentalism as stooges of Western influence designed to undermine China.

So the future, as always, is problematical. The issue as framed for the future becomes one of whether Europe and America will continue to lead or even to exist as such. In part this is question of whether the majority within the West has become so effete and so immobilized by the existence of the alienated intellectual culture within it that it is prepared to see itself displaced and its influence seep away. From all appearances, the current American majority, which rarely asserts its own prerogatives in either ideology or politics, is willing to acquiesce in this transformation. 

Stated another way, the new struggle that today's "multiculturalism" poses will be about whether America and Europe are to dissolve into the Third World, or whether all of mankind will rise to a new level under the leadership of positive forces that will include, as one of their primary ingredients, the heritage of the West. There will be very little "heritage of the West" involved in it if the alienated intellectual culture - the driving force behind "liberalism in contemporary America" - has its way.

Gad Saad on the anomaly of the West

What made the West the anomalous, wonderful experiment that it was - and I am almost speaking in the past tense - is that it had a set of values, a set of approaches to adjudicating the truth to glorifying individual dignity, to rejecting identity politics, to supporting freedom of speech. It had a set of values that served as a protective belt that rendered the West to be the truly anomalous and unique human... and the reason I say anomalous is because throughout human history, the freedoms that are enshrined in the West - the enlightenment that is enshrined in the West - is not something that is a common feature in human history. It's truly an anomalous reality. 

And as someone who comes from the Middle East, as someone who has escaped identity politics when taken to the extreme, who has escaped superstition, who has escaped vile hatred of the other - in this case, I was the other - it breaks my heart to see that we are regressing. Ideas that we defeated through the scientific revolution and through the enlightenment are now the ideas that one of the two parties in the US - and certainly in Canada - is the central feature of their platforms...

Most people are intellectually lazy...  So take your time.  Get to know the positions.  Arm yourself with knowledge and then hopefully make the right decisions to hopefully protect the West for your children and theirs.

Vasko Kohlmayer on the false narrative of Western oppression of minorities

Here is another politically correct lie: In Western democracies minorities are oppressed. To every reasonable person the falsity of this is immediately evident. Rather than being oppressed, racial minorities in the United States and most western countries enjoy more protections and privileges than the majority. This is exactly the reason why minorities from non-western societies are so eager to come and live in western societies. So much so that we have to expand considerable efforts and resources to keep them out for fear of being overrun. Conversely, we do not see minorities living in Western democracies running away from their oppression to live in those wonderful non-Western cultures and societies of which multiculturalists are so fond. Why do you think this is? The reality of the situation and the behavior of people themselves completely disprove the official PC narrative. Any intimations of the obvious, however, immediately draws the ire of the politically correct organs and can result in prompt cancellation.

The protestors themselves make their intentions clear as they barely attempt to hide their true motives. In many cases they do not bother to make even tenuous links between their faux cause of “anti-racism” and their attacks on Christianity. In fact, they are surprisingly brazen about their goals. By inscribing slogans such as “God is dead,” and “There is no God” and by drawing anarchist and pagan graffiti on the walls of Christian edifices, these “anti-racism” protesters could not be more clear about what they really want.

Just think about it: What do pagan symbols have to do with the struggle for “racial justice?” Have pagan cultures ever been known for their racial tolerance and equality? Have they ever been known to treat minorities with compassion and understanding? Anyone who knows anything about history knows that there has been little social justice in pagan cultures. As a rule, the way pagan societies treat their minorities is appalling. To express this truth in modern idiom, pagan cultures almost invariably discriminate – often brutally – on the basis of race, gender, national original, disability, sexual orientation and on the basis of whatever else that can make one different from the ruling elite in charge. The only societies that have treated minorities with understanding and compassion have been those arising from the Western civilizational stream. Western societies are the only ones in history in which minorities are given the full measure of human respect and equal rights. As far as we know, there have been no significant social justice movement in pagan societies. This should not surprise, since any would-be activists against oppression in non-Christian cultures usually come to a quick end.

Although it is true that various forms of oppression have been practiced in the West over time, oppression is by no means unique to the West. Oppression has been, in fact, a feature of every civilization that has appeared on the face of this earth. We could say that human history is – in one way – a history of oppression: It has common for those with power to exploit, trample upon and take advantage of their fellow human beings. There is nothing particularly surprising about this, since selfishness and rapaciousness are prominent aspects of human nature.

What makes the West unique, however, is that it is the only civilization to reject oppression and deem it both wrong and immoral. Western civilization stands as the only culture that has had the compassion and humanness to make a deliberate and systematic effort to eliminate oppression and tyranny not only from within its own territories but also in other parts of the world. Central to this enterprise has been the concept of human rights. It was Western thinkers who came up with the unprecedented and novel idea that all men (and women) are entitled to certain fundamental inalienable rights which they possess simply by virtue of being human.

Jordan Peterson on Western civilization and "tyrannical patriarchy"

The free market principles, the idea of individual sovereignty above all else, is distributed itself across the world quite effectively.  And everyone is doing better here than anybody has ever done on the face of the planet throughout recorded history.  And the whole West is like that.  And to call that all "tyrannical patriarchy" is indicative of a very deep resentment and a historical ignorance that's so profound that it is indistinguishable from willful blindness.
