Jordan Peterson on self improvement
Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today. See, that's a game you can win. The possibility that you can make yourself slightly better on a continual basis... I think that's something that's accessible to everyone. I think that's equivalent to leading a virtuous life. There's something to be said for virtue and truth. That's another thing I've noticed about people who have been phenomenally successful, is that they really do everything they can to live a truthful life. You get a bloody long ways by being honest.

Scott Mautz on making excuses
Excuses are an attempt to dodge accountability and blame. Confident people embrace accountability and don't worry about being blamed. They own their mistakes and command respect accordingly. They don't hide behind circumstances or lack of resources to justify not accomplishing something.

Scott Mautz on indecision
Choosing not to decide is still a choice, a corrosive one. Indecision is often born from insecurity, a fear of making the wrong decision and looking bad. Highly confident people don't worry about who's right, they worry about what's right. And if they decide incorrectly, so be it. Onward. Upward. Live and learn.

Scott Mautz on negative energy
When negative people project their unhelpful vibe into the universe, it's often a cover up. They don't feel good about themselves or something in their life and so want to project that sentiment elsewhere. Confident people aren't having it, because they don't need to build themselves up by tearing other people or things down.

Bethany McLean on making excuses
[A]t the end of the day, no one actually cares why you got it wrong. All that matters is that it’s wrong. And if you don’t think in terms of excuses, you’re less likely to make a mistake in the first place.

Ralph Waldo Emerson on positive attitude
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense.
